The risk of obesity after castration
Castration influences the sex hormones, which are involved in the regulation of appetite and metabolism. If the sex hormone level drops after castration, this has an effect on appetite and energy requirements. The appetite increases by up to 25 % and at the same time the energy requirement decreases by up to 30 %. This imbalance quickly leads to obesity in neuters if the food or amount of food is not adjusted. We therefore advise you to switch to a sterilised food after neutering your cat.
